The Stars Announced Their Separation In A Public Statement

"Newlyweds" stars Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey officially announced their divorce, after months of denials and rumors. The news was confirmed by the couple's publicists Meredith O' Sullivan and Rob Shooter.

"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," Jessica and Nick said in their official statement.

"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

The couple wed in October 2002, and shortly after their marriage they became famous due to TV reality show "Newlyweds" presented by MTV.

Their marriage has always been the center of gossips, especially for the past few months since Jessica appeared in public alone and without her wedding ring.
