Angelina Jolie's estranged father, actor Jon Voight, will portray Pope John Paul II in a CBS TV mini series.
Voight, 37, a practicing Roman Catholic, plays as Karol Wojtyla, who becomes the beloved Pope John Paul II, in "Pope John Paul II," which aired yesterday and will also be broadcast Wednesday on CBS, this mini series being the second drama about the life of the potif.
"He seemed like such a kind person," says Jon Voight, who plays him in those times. "I think he had a natural sense for people", reports APP.com.
The shooting took place in Krakow, Poland and inside the Vatican. Among the actors which play in the serial are Ben Gazzara, James Cromwell and Christopher Lee.
"There was an offer to me in the 80s to play John Paul II and it was approved by him. The piece never got made, it was something he had written, an autobiographical thing.
"So I felt, when I got this offer, it's coming from the man himself. He's got his hand on my shoulder," Contactmusic quoted Voight as saying.
