Soon after Adobe Systems announced the completion of its acquisition of Macromedia, the company announced new design, web and video bundles incorporating Adobe and Macromedia software.
The transaction was finalized on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005. As a result of the acquisition, Macromedia common stock is no longer being traded and shares of Macromedia common stock were converted into the right to receive 1.38 shares of Adobe common stock.
The combination of Adobe and Macromedia aims to create one of the world's largest software companies. The acquisition brings together some of the industry's strongest software for creating, managing and delivering digital multimedia content.
"The explosion of digital content, combined with the accelerating proliferation of mobile phones, wireless devices and the growth of broadband are transforming the way the world engages with information," said Bruce Chizen, chief executive officer of Adobe.
"Adobe and Macromedia are at the center of this trend, and together we will build on our combined heritage to redefine the way people and businesses communicate."
The three new product bundles Adobe announced today combine the design and publishing features of Adobe® Creative Suite 2 and the Adobe video tools with the interactive strength of just-released Macromedia Flash Professional 8 and Macromedia Studio 8 software.
"Whether producing a Web site, interactive content for a cell phone or a corporate brochure, our customers change the way the world looks everyday, with work that ensures communications, brands and products stand out from the crowd," said Shantanu Narayen, president and chief operating officer at Adobe.
"Adobe's new Design, Web and Video Bundles harness the power and global reach of Flash and PDF technology to deliver engaging content and digital experiences, to the widest possible worldwide audience. Our development teams are just beginning to explore the massive potential for integration and innovation as they start work on a new generation of solutions."

The Adobe Web Bundle offers Studio 8 software with Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium software. Announced in August 2005, Studio 8 combines the latest releases of award-winning Macromedia Dreamweaver 8, Flash Professional 8, and Fireworks 8, and maintenance and productivity tools Macromedia Contribute3 and Macromedia FlashPaper 2 software.
