"The Family Stone" Spice Up The Holydays

A Comic Story About A Family’s Christmas Holyday.

20th Century Fox production "The Family Stone" made his debut at the DGA Theater in New York. The film is a comic story featuring Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica-Parker and Dermot Mulroney.

The plot follows the annual holiday gathering of a New England family, the Stones. The eldest son Everett, played by Dermot Mulroney, brings his girlfriend, Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) home to meet his parents, brothers and sisters. The bohemian Stones are not pleased by the new member and greet their visitor - shrill, speed-dialing New York career woman in tailored suits- with a mix of awkwardness, confusion and hostility.

Before the holyday is over secrets will be revealed, and the family Stone, in front with Sybil Stone (Diane Keaton), the strong-willed matriarch, will open their hearts and welcome the new member, Meredith.

"I was drawn instantly to the character of Sybil because of the many layers to her personality," says Diane Keaton. "This role allowed me to explore so many - often conflicting - emotions. It was fun playing the character who maintains a semblance of order within the chaos that prevails in her household. Sybil is the glue that holds the family together."

When she meets the Stones, Meredith is confused and surprised by their way of living, extremely chaotic and unforgettable for her.

"Meredith is different from most of the characters I've played," says Sarah Jessica Parker. "She's controlling, rigid and tightly wound. She's also intractable and inflexible, and when she finds herself out of her element at the Stone house, she turns into a wreck of a person.

The film is directed by Thomas Bezucha, who turns the Stone into a freak family, giving them a comic and chaotic imagine.
