Pierce Brosnan Defends The New Bond Spy Daniel Craig

Brosnan said: "I think Daniel is a very fine actor."

The ex James Bond spy Pierce Brosnan spoke today in actor Daniel Craig's defense, after the media criticized him during the past days, for the shooting incident, when he received a punch in the face and broke with front teeth.

At the UK premiere of his new film 'The Matador', Brosnan revealed: "I got stitched up and sewn up a few times, it just didn't get in the papers."

"I had my face sliced open by a stuntman. I had a knee injury. You get twisted some way or another if you throw yourself into it. There's going to be mishaps."

When asked his opinion on Craig's fitness to play Bond, Brosnan said: "I think Daniel is a very fine actor. These are rocky waters and they're going to get him one way or another, but I think he will have the last laugh at the end of it."

Also today, a group of angry fans launched a protest website, craignotbond.com, to boycott the replacement of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond star with British actor Daniel Craig, Associated Press reports.

The fans think that Craig is not fit to be the next James Bond in the upcoming film "Casino Royale," and they call him "a terrible choice."

A statement on the site says: "EON Productions angered fans around the world when they fired Pierce Brosnan at the height of his popularity as Bond. To add insult to injury, EON cast a short, blond, odd-looking Daniel Craig in the role of Bond. The fact that they went with Craig just points to how lost and desperate they were once they walked away from a sure thing like Pierce Brosnan. "
