Blige won the award for best female R&B artist and the one for video of the year, the title which she, Foxx and West shared.
Brown was named best new artist took home viewer's choice, for his "Excuse Me Miss," while West and Foxx won the video honor for "Gold Digger."
"Y'all are stepping up black music," West said. "This is the best music right here, and we've got to keep on giving it to them like that."
One of the most touching moments of this year's show was Harry Belafonte's speech when he accepted a humanitarian award.
"I didn't set out to get a gold record, I didn't set out to break records, I had a mission; and the mission was to overthrow oppression, my weapon was art, one of the most powerful weapons in the world, it's non violent and it changes minds, hearts and souls," Belafonte said.
The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.
The awards are presented annually and broadcast live on BET.
