The couple, who split last year, signed the divorce papers without making any legal settlement regarding their fortune. Apparently, this issue is to be settled amicably between them in the near future.
Simpson and Lachey have asked that retired Judge Dana Senit Henry is appointed "for the sole purpose of conducting the hearing, if any, with respect to the bifurcated issue of the termination of marital status," the official papers say.
Simpson and Nick officially announced their divorce last year on Nov 23, after months of denials and rumors, stating: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways.
"This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
Since then both Simpson and Lacey have had short-term relationships and while Jessica seem to have moved on, Nick revealed he has yet to get over his ex-wife.
"I'm in the process, but I've been consumed with the album and haven't had a chance to feel sorry for myself. I think it's a process. I don't know if I'll ever be over Jessica," Nick said.
