Train Crash Causes 36 Deaths

A serious train crash caused the death of at least 36 people, this morning.

Moreover the collision is responsible for injuring nearly 100 persons. Rescue workers and ambulances are doing their best to help those injured.

The trains were on the same track. The incident caused greater economic damages as the line was closed. Closing the line forced official derailing and overturning several trains.

One of the trains was traveling Cairo from Mansura, while the other one was coming from Benha.

The incident took place this morning, around 7AM (local time) nearby Qalyoub, who is situated 20km northern Cairo.

For the moment few details are known as officials chose to remain silent. However, it is known that investigations are done.

Unfortunately several train accidents take place yearly in Egypt because of the inefficient equipment. According to AFP reports this is the third serious train accident in Egypt this year.

Almost 65 people were injured in the precedent accidents, in February and May.

The most damaging accident took place in 2002 when a fire on a train caused the death of more than 300 people.
