Gordon, First Poll Position in 48 Races

Jeff Gordon managed to obtain his first poll position in 48 races. It has been long since the NASCAR champion managed to defeat all his competitors, but let's hope he is back on top for good.

This is Gordon's first 2006's poll position after his 2005's victory in Samona.

"It feels like my first pole ever. When it goes by for a while, you feel like you lost that magic touch or that combination that it took to get on poles," Gordon told journalists.

Gordon's 48th lucky race took place on Friday at Dover International Speedway.

The pilot who finished his last race in 23.053 seconds is currently beneficiating from the sponsorship of DuPont.

"That's a great lap. I'm just so proud of the DuPont Chevrolet crew right now. They're just doing an awesome job for us," said Gordon.

Should Riggs finished second at Dover International Speedway.

"You've got to look at the cars in front of you and behind you. It's so tight and pit road is so narrow, there really is only that one good pit box: The first one. And even there, although you don't have to worry about being blocked in, one guy can pull out in front of you because there's no way to get around," declared Should Riggs shortly after finishing the race.
