According to the British officials this would be a way of reducing alcohol abuse.
It was also said that labels containing health warnings might also appear on beer and spirits recipients.
Not only that the new etiquettes will draw attention toward the negative effects excessive drinking has on people's health, but they will also include information regarding support needed by those suffering from alcohol addiction.
The British officials considered launching the warning campaign especially to bring awareness among young people. A European Commission's report revealed that although the alcohol consumption is declining gradually in Europe, Brits aged 18 to 25 show an increasing interest in alcohol.
However, representatives of wine producers reacted against the Government's new intention. British officials say that warnings will not be as striking as those on packs of cigarettes and are hoping to reach an agreement with the wine industry.
