Online Game to Prevent the Spreading Of HIV

The United Nations Children's Education Fund (UNICEF) is taking into account a new method of prevention against HIV/AIDS-online games.

UNICEF has recently launched an online game that is design to inform young people over the importance of HIV testing. UNICEF is hoping that by combining entertainment with education, young people will be more attentive to their health message.

The game entitled "Ungefanyaje" or "What would you do?" in Swahili language is available in two versions, an English one and a Swahili one.

UNICEF is positive that this new online game will help teenagers to make better life choices so that the alarming increase of HIV cases would stagnate.

"Although prevention is essential to half the spread of HIV/AIDS, an alarming 80 per cent of all young people still don't know how to protect themselves from the virus," stated UNICEF, who is now trying to improve the situation.

"By speaking openly about the threat that HIV and AIDS poses to young people, we can help to give them the knowledge they need to keep safe from infection. It is estimated that of the 2.3 million children under 15 living with HIV, 2 million are in sub-Saharan Africa," said Amber Oliver, Coordinator of Voices of Youth, in a statement posed on UNICEF's official web-site.
