"I am very excited to have Ivan as a part of the team. During Lance's final Tours, Ivan pushed Lance to a new level and we expect great things from him in 2007," stated Bill Stapleton, Discovery Channel's general manager.
Ivan Bass transfer from CSC team to Discovery Channel team takes place three months after the doping scandal in which the Italian cyclist was involved.
The cyclist was banned from this year's Tour de France because of doping accusations. However, these charges were dropped two weeks ago.
"It really hurt me to be kicked out of the Tour 15 hours before the start. Days of revenge will come next year when I race the Giro and Tour," revealed Ivan Basso, after being informed that he was free of charges.
Ivan Basso, who is 2005 Tour de France's vice-champion, will start trainings with his new team next month.
