Happy Feet Knocks Casino Royale for the Third Time

Warner Bros’ animated “Happy Feet” penguins beat James Bond Casino Royale in the box office race for the third weekend in a row.

The tap-dancing penguins held off James Bond once again in the North American Box office top.

"Happy Feet," the story of a penguin who cannot carry a tune but can tap-dance instead, earned $17 million, running a total of $121 million, while James Bond film "Casino Royale" cashed $15.1 million in, bringing its total earnings up to $115.9 million.

However, Casino Royale holds onto the No.1 ranking overseas, according to distributor Columbia Pictures, with a worldwide total of more than $300 million over the weekend.

No.3 in this weekend's box office chart went to time-travelling thriller "Deja vu" with $11 million, followed by three Christmas films: "The Nativity Story" at number four with $8 million earnings, "Deck the Halls" at number five with a total of $6.7million and "The Santa Clause 3" at number six with $5 million.

Last weekend's number three, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," went down 4 places landing at number seven with $4.8million, while Fox's vacation horror film "Turistas" opened at number eight with $3.5million.

"Stranger Than Fiction" and "Van Wilder 2: The Rise of Taj" round up this weekend's box office chart with $3.4 million and respectively $2.3 million.
