Around My Life - Part 1

The Beginning - Arriving In Italy

When I arrived to Italy, I was landed on the Malpensa airport in Milan. Waiting for me was the nephew of my parent's friends. My opinion about Italian men was pretty bad - small and fat guys or beautiful but gigolo.

I was already thinking about how boring the trip will be and how to refuse the next date that our parents will arrange for me to "see the town".

I stepped into the waiting room, dragging two big suitcases after me and kicking them with my feet to make them roll, very angry after one hour spent at the custom because I couldn't find my luggage, still sweating and straggly, looking around for Fabrizzio.

I don't see anyone so I think that he didn't show up. What an idiot! I throw my suitcases into a corner and start looking into the Italian guide, trying to figure out how to ask for a bus to Turin.

And in that moment I hear from behind:

-Mi scusi. Ana Li?

I turn around very furious and I see the most incredible smile I ever saw in my entire life, and a tall man with wonderfully black eyes and a white shirt on a great body. He was an angel! I melt down.

- Fabrizzio, he said, smiling again.

Oh, God! Oh, God! Why in the name of Christ didn't I learn, at least a single Italian word? What should I say now?

-Si. Buon giorno, I hear myself whispering.

My face was on fire and I felt like I'm going to kill my parents for not telling me how he looked like. Not that I would have trusted their description, but anyhow...

He took my luggage and walked me to the parking lot, to a red Ferrari. Can you realize this? A Ferrari! I've never seen one, only on TV. I didn't even know how to open the door, but I solved this playing Lady: I waited for him to open the door for me.

On the road, I've found out that he is an architect (Wow! George from Seinfeld wanted to be an architect, so it's great!) and he studied 2 years in London (so we have solved the communication problem! Yuppies!). We had a great conversation.

How beautiful is Italy!

How beautiful I am!

How beautiful is life!

To be continued...
