The long awaited "Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children" has finally come out on DVD. Square Enix and Sony Pictures Entertainment's production is a mind bending Action/Drama with spectacular special effects and a overall graphic that surprised everyone.
The story takes place roughly two years after the end of Final Fantasy VII (the game). Earth has become a more peaceful place and even though cities seem to be in ruins - humanity seems to be prevailing. However, many of the survivors of Meteor have been affected by Geostigma (an incurable disease of unknown origins).
The hero of the story is Cloud Strife, whose voice is Sakurai Takahiro. Cloud is in a state of confusion - as his guilt over losing his friends and Aeris in his attempt to save the world is taking control of him. An inner drama starts as he begins to wonder whether it was worth it. He feels alone in the world and puzzled as what his actions should be.
Cloud is informed about Kadaj's gang formed from three mysterious men (Kadaj, Yazoo and Loz) that are trying to revive Jenova (their so called mother). Kadaj's gang, like Cloud, posses Jenova's cells in their bodies. As Jenova is a evil entity that has the power to destroy the world, Cloud is called upon to fight again and stop that from happening since he is the only one capable of doing it.
The movie is packed with close combat fights and filled with special effects as Cloud struggles to find his place in the world and save it at the same time.
Along side Cloud Strife's voice - Sakurai Takahiro, voice actress Ito Ayumi plays Tifa Lockhart, Morikuba Shotaro as Kadaj, Nomura Kenji as Loz and Kishi Yuji as Yazoo.
The director Nomura Tetsuya was put to the task of directing the movie due to his long experience in games and his experience with the Final Fantasy series. He is credited for a series of highly-rated games as:
