Microsoft's European home and entertainment head announced on Wednesday the upcoming console's price: $299 US, EUR299.99 EUR and £209.99 UK - without the accessories. Xbox 360 with the wireless controllers, detachable hard drives and headsets will cost $399 US, EUR399 EUR and £279.99 UK. The pricing for the Japanese market will be revealed at the Tokyo games fair next month.
The exact date for the launch isn't set, but it seems it will be sometime in November, before the Christmas holidays and well ahead of Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Revolution which are due next year.
Even though Sony's PlayStation 2 still has two-thirds of the game console market and Microsoft's Xbox only has one sixth, things could go Xbox's way: many top Japanese game publishers announced very successful games to be made for Xbox 360 such as:
Call of Duty 2
FIFA 2006
NBA Live 06
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
Final Fantasy XI
