Islam Fighters Attacked Police As Well As Government Buildings In Nalchik, Killing Over 63 People.

Vladimir Putin had the city of Nalchik under blockade, and ordered the

army to shoot armed terrorists on sight. The number of militants in the city was in the number of hundreds.

Hostages have been taken inside a police station, although according to other sources fights are still carried inside the building.

The Cechen rebel's fight has been going on for tens of years, but only now have the fights turn to a rather unexpected development, rebels resorting to terrorist-like attacks, including suicide bombing and hostage taking operations such like the on in Beslan.

Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev is the mastermind behind the whole movement.
