Amer Sports To Buy Salomon From Adidas

$582 Million Deal Approved By The European Union

Fischer is the rival of Amer for ski equipment in Austria, Germany and France.

The deal was approved after Amer, Salomon and Fischer significantly reduced their cooperation, especially on commercial strategy.

EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes: "Consolidation in the skiing equipment industry cannot be allowed to lead to higher prices, lower quality or less innovative products.

However, the commitments given by Amer will ensure that the merged entity will face sufficient competition pressure in all winter sport equipment markets."

Amer will take over Salomon, Mavic, arc Teryx, Cliche and Bonfire brands.

The company based in Helsinki, Finland, manufactures Wilson Atomic products. Wilson registered an increase in sales as stars like Switzerland's Roger Federer, Serena and Venus Williams of the United States and Justine Henin-Hardenne from Belgium began using these racquets.
